Sometimes I get so caught up in worrying about finances and the economy in general I completely forget that, in the absence of a fat bank account, there are millions of things that a guy can do with his family that don’t cost a dime and, while I’m not going to tell you that I don’t enjoy splurging at the mall once in a while, it is true that some of the best things in life are free.
After over a week of emergency room visits, vomit, diarrhea and the like, everyone was finally healthy, cheerful and energetic enough to venture out of the petri dish we call home and get some fresh air, and a wonderful time was had by all. We threw my bike in the car and headed out to our favorite park for a day of fun in the sun.

An absolute must for any playground. Giant camels.

Frankie and her old man gearing up for a 50 mile ride. Update: The old man got tired and stopped to eat a hot dog and nap after about 2 miles.

Jumping makes all problems in life seem insignificant. Try it!

Not that easy to take a self portrait with your three-year-old at the very moment she hears the ice cream man coming, trust me.

Very easy to take a shot of your three-year-old once she has chased the ice cream man down!

Every now and then, my wife lets me shoot her picture. Or, as in this case, I do it when she’s not looking. Who says pregnant women aren’t hot?

She definitely got my thrill-seeker genes. Which makes me more proud than I ever thought possible. Of course, she totally bailed right after this and cried and we all had to go home, but still. Awesome shot.
Every time we have a weekend like this one I am reminded that sometimes not having any plans is the best plan. As we near the tail end of Aline’s pregnancy (no pun intended), I’m going to try to renew my commitment to keeping everyone relaxed and happy. Time together, along with laughter, is truly the best medicine there is, and I intend to pursue it relentlessly.

Dang, Aline. You are GORGEOUS pregnant! I’m not sure if we can be friends anymore, actually.

Trust me- no one in THIS house would ever say pregnant women aren’t hot!
Great pictures and what a beautiful day together… those are often the very best kind. Absolutely adore the action shots of your little girl!

Funny. we did the same thing on Sunday, though sadly our park has no camels. Nor do I ride a bike. : )

Great to see you back – looks like you guys had a great time and most importantly, that you all are healthy.
Man, I wish we could get our daughters together. Mine LOVES to jump and I know they would have a blast. Plus, we could just sit back and drink.

Woohoo for your commitment to completely manage relaxation and happiness in the home. (Although your credibility for such might need to be re-earned after the previous post. – which, wow, 58 comments! Isn’t there some blog contest you can win with that?)
Yea, stay away from geese – can be very aggressive birds.
2 miles counts.
Aline is beautiful, as ever.
You and Frankie, cute as ever.

I LOVE weekends with no plans. I do that most weekends, and just let it play out as it may. Love it.
I don’t love geese though.
