First, the back story. My name has not always been Aline Pfingsten. I was born Aline Karakachian. My family and I moved from Beirut, Lebanon in 1988, so I’m considered an LA transplant. Coming from an artistic family, my father, a visionary architect, and my mother, an artistic home-maker, it was inevitable that I followed their path and discovered my calling in the Fashion Arts.
Matt Pfingsten, the son of a talented Midwestern Art teacher, moved to Los Angeles to seek out his calling in marketing and graphic design. While on this journey, our paths crossed and, three years later, we were married. At the end of the next six years, which we both considered to be the best time either of us has ever had, life changed.
We never expected to have a preemie. I don’t think anyone does. Nonetheless, our daughter, Francesca Marley Pfingsten, was born at 32 weeks weighing in at a scale-tipping 3 lbs, 6 oz... tiny.
Like all preemie parents, our world was turned upside down. In addition to the most basic concerns “We didn’t have time to pack our bag! The crib isn’t put together yet! The room is not painted!” there were much deeper issues to consider. Our little sweetie was here, yet she was not “here”. Her nursery remained cold and empty. Words cannot express what a terrifying time it was for us. Our daughter had a rough start into this world; an experience we will never forget.
So, RedSparks was founded on an emotion. From the very first day our thought was “She can’t fit into anything!” All the beautiful outfits we had for her, delicately washed and folded, waiting for her arrival, were put away for later use. She needed a new wardrobe and we couldn’t find it. In those days, time for shopping was a luxury we could not afford. We spent every single minute we could by her side in her temporary home in the NICU. When we did manage to slip away to search online for clothes that our daughter could wear, we were consistently disappointed and disheartened by what was (or rather what was NOT) available.
RedSparks is meant to be our solution to this dilemma. We attempt to provide fun and unique clothing and accessories for preemies and all babies alike, support for new parents, excellent customer service, a basic understanding of preemie parents’ fears and concerns and hopefully some advice and entertaining baby raising tidbits to boot.
RedSparks is modern attire for preemie to toddler.
Reflecting back on those days, we express our humble gratitude to all who lived this journey with us. Just as the love and support of family and friends will never be forgotten, our goal is to bring you some comfort and eliminate the uncertainty and guess work from buying clothing, socks, books, toys... you name it, for the newest member of your family. We understand that you have enough to worry about without worrying about whether your new baby’s clothes are the right clothes.
We stand behind our product, we love each and every item we’ve selected and we hope that you do too.
Please, enjoy what we have created for you. It is our vision and our daughter’s future. We will stop at nothing to ensure that RedSparks stays true to what we have promised.
Peace, Love and Laughter
Frankie, Matt and Aline Pfingsten
